Jednak walka w muzyce przynosi pozytywne efekty - płyta RATM jest tego świadectwem. Nie jest to łatwy materiał, przyswaja się go po kilkakrotnym przesłuchaniu. Nie jest to eksperymentalna płyta, jest to typowy RATM - na pewno starzy fani tej kapeli będą usatysfakcjonowani. Mnie jednak na tej płycie podoba się najbardziej nie kontynuacja brzmienia, ale partie gitarowe Toma Morello. Stosuje eksperymentalne motywy gitarowe, które wprowadzają niezwykłe pasaże do muzyki RATM. Tak jest w utworze "Voice of The Voiceless", w którym Morello gra niczym Robert Fripp z King Crimson. "Sleep Now In The Fire" rozpoczyna się jak numer Steve'a Ray'a Vaughana, bardzo rhytm'n'bluesowo. Ogólnie można odnieść wrażenie, że muzyka na płycie "The Battle of Los Angeles" jest nastawiona na uwypuklenie różnorodnych partii gitary. Może to niewyrobionego odbiorcę ciężkiej muzy trochę denerwować, ale wszak nie jest to płyta przeznaczona dla laików. W "Ashes In The Fall" Morello gra niezwykle psychodelicznie, niczym Jimi Hendrix, często używając "kaczki". Najbardziej melodyjnymi uworami z nowej płyty są rozpoczynający ją "Testify" i singlowy "Guerilla Radio", który zawiera proste, ale fantastyczne riffy. Ogólnie muzykę RATM zdominował duch psychodelicznego hard rocka, aż dziw bierze, że u schyłku wieku można taką inspirację pokazać w energetycznej formie. AP2007 De Canadese radiozender Kiss Radio draait al sinds gisteren uitsluitend nog het nummer "Killing in the name" van de Amerikaanse rockband Rage Against The Machine. Waarom is onduidelijk, maar de dj's kregen dinsdag plots te horen dat ze zouden worden ontslagen. Volgens Tracey Lindeman, freelancejournaliste bij de Britse krant The Guardian, die de radiozender contacteerde, gaat het om een protestactie van de dj's of om een marketingstunt van de zender zelf. Het nummer speelt al sinds woensdagochtend non-stop op de Canadese radiozender. Het bevat de legendarische zin: “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me!”, maar de zender koos voor de kindvriendelijke versie van het nummer waarin vloekwoorden worden weggelaten. Af en toe horen we de radiohost die lijkt een verzoeknummer aan te nemen van luisteraars, maar of het om echte luisteraars gaat, valt te betwijfelen: iedereen vraagt "Killing in the name" van Rage Against The Machine aan, een voorstel waar de host steeds met plezier op in gaat. Via sociale media ging het opvallende nieuws snel de wereld rond en de Canadese journaliste Tracey Lindeman vond het zo mysterieus dat ze besloot de zender op te bellen om te vragen wat er precies aan de hand is. "De man die de telefoon opnam wenste aangesproken te worden als Apollo, zoals in de Rocky-films", vertelt Lindeman. "Op de vraag waarom hij steeds hetzelfde nummer liet spelen, antwoordde hij: Ik ben gewoon een man in een radiostudio die Rage (Against The Machine) draait, opnieuw en opnieuw."
